Dear Abbey (Invited)

Dear Abbey is a brand new cafe at Moonee Ponds build in front of a historical Church. Opened by the same big family behind The Glass Den and Little Sister, no wonder it has a warm yet exciting unique feeling through out the place.

I was lucky enough to get to visit the venue before it opens and even from the outside I quickly fall in love with the cafe. There are plenty of seats to choose from the corridor seating, outdoor seatings and the corner seating where you can enjoy the view outside the cafe. What I love the most is the airiness, bright and blue shades through out the cafe.

There are various of beverages such as coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juice. I had my regular skinny cappuccino and it's one of the best coffee I had that week. It's creamy, full of body with strong flavour. Love it. I also had their hot chocolate which slightly too sweet for me but their apple, pear and mint juice was refreshing and sweet.

Dear Abbey does not have a wide varieties in term of sweet dishes so I had to try one of them. Ricotta Hot Cakes - poached pear, pistachio, honey walnuts and lemon maple butter syrup ($17.9). The hotcakes was warm, moist with perfect sweetness. The poached pear was amazingly good mixed in with the crunchy nuts.

Lamb and Feta Terrine - fig relish and artisan sourdough ($19.9). The lamb was very well cooked, tender and tasty with no strong lamb smell present which I highly appreciate. Nicely partnered with sweet fig to lighten up the flavour.

Angel Hair Pasta - tasmanian king prawn, scallops, chilli, heirloom tomato, confit garlic tossed in olive oil ($17.9). This is my favourite dish of the day and I still dreaming about it till now. Al dente angel hair pasta with lightly tossed olive oil, chilli and garlic is a classic combination of flavour proven over time. The fresh and generous seafood lifted up the flavour even more. Love it!

Their service was friendly, attentive and nice. Overall, it was a really nice experience and I would highly recommend it. They even gave me a goodie bag to bring home. Dear Abbey will certainly become one of the trending cafe this year and quickly become one of the local favourites in no time.
