Holy Macaronut!

Holy Macaronut! is a pop up event by Dessert Parlour and Macaron Sisters to introduce their brand new dessert hybrid, Macaronut. The top part is macaron and the bottom part doughnut, another deadly delicious combination. It was held in the new location of Long Short Story Cafe in Port Melbourne and prior to the event, people are given the chance to register at Evenbrite even though on the day they still have to line up. The line was reasonably quick and they sell each macaronut for $6.

Long Story Short is famous for their hot chocolate sphere with marshmallows. The new cafe was smaller than the old location with a slightly different vibe as well. There's abundant natural lighting from the window decorated with wooden furnitures, hanging plants and a slightly open kitchen.

Skinny Cappuccino ($4). I'm not a big fan of high sugar or anything too sweet, since this is the first time I'm going to try the new dessert. I'm prepared to balanced it up with my coffee, their coffee was well made despite the busy crowd. I start with the Choc Salted Caramel. To be honest the texture of the macaron was crunchy and perfect but I was expecting a little bit fluffier doughnut underneath. But overall this flavour was too sweet for me.

White Choc Raspberry. This is my favourite out of the three, I love the fresh Raspberry inside. Somehow it has freshness and lighten the dessert up.

Matcha Coconut. This is my second favourite, less sweet than the choc macaronut. The matcha clearly presents and the coconut works really well with the matcha.

It was a fun event and I'm always excited for a new innovative wave in the food industry. I would like to see more from dessert parlour and macaron sisters in the future.
