+39 Pizzeria is a well known and popular restaurant located in Little Bourke St. It has been opened since  early 2009 by six Italian friends who grew up together with the same love of good food. The name +39 comes from International Italian dialings code. +39 Pizzeria pride them selves as a direct link to all Italian goodness. After years of success, the team snapped up the site of Riccardo Momesso's former Valentino Calabrian Kitchen, on the Hawksburn Village and opened their second store.

I met Andrea Ceriani at one of Food Social previous event and we had a small chat then Andrea did mention about inviting me to the brand new +39 Pizzeria store but I did not expect it would happen. Just because +39 Pizzeria is a very successful franchise and it does need more publicity, the CBD store remain busy years after it's open even on weekdays. I received an email from Guilia, the manager of +39 Pizzeria Toorak inviting me and my team to have taste and experience the new store, I was pretty surprise and excited in the same time. The restaurant it self is much bigger than CBD store, fit in around 100 seats and perfect for functions such as corporate meetings, birthday and more. It has the same rustic, homey feeling but more open and relax.

I went in on Wednesday night and offered to start with some tempting drinks. Love on The Rocks - Gin, campari, Sanpellegrino blood orange on ice ($15.5) & Spritz - Prosecco, Aperol, soda and orange wedge ($14.5). This drink is well known as a favourite in Venice. I like both of them but if I have to choose I have to pick Love on The Rocks just because it's a little bit stronger in taste. Spritz is perfect for light drink and taste very similar to Sprite.

Degustazione Mista - a selection of Italian cured meat and cheeses served with pickles, taralli, truffle honey and house made red onion jam ($25) with 36 months aged Prosciutto di Parma ($8). This is one of the most popular menu and often sold out and I know why. It was super delicious and perfect for an opener. The cure meat was tasty especially the 36 months aged prosciutto di parma but the truffle honey was amazing. It match with the meat and the cheese. I would love to buy them.

Special Pizza: La 61 - Fior di Latte, parmesan, asparagus, pancetta, egg 61 degree and black pepper ($21). This is my second favourite dish of the night. It was thin, yet crispy. The seasoning was light but you can still taste the flavour and the 61 degree egg was runny, match perfectly with the rest of the ingredients.

Blue Swimmer Crab Gnocchi - house made gnocchi served with blue swimmer crab, garlic, chilli, napoli sauce, cherry tomatoes, crayfish bisque and parsley ($28). Presented beautifully by +39 Pizzeria team. The crab shell was so soft, you can break it with your own hand. The meat was tasty and sweet. I wish the gnocchi was a touch softer, creating the melt in your mouth sensation. A little bit more chilli, salt, black pepper and garlic would amped this dish.

Fettuccine al Funghi Porcini - egg fettuccine infused with porcini mushrooms, porcini mushroom stock, porcini mushrooms, parmesan & Black truffle paste ($24). As most of you may have noticed, I love black truffle. Who doesn't? The fettuccine was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, a little bit more truffle wouldn't hurt.

Specials: La Pentolaccia - mussels, prawns, calamari, chilli, cherry tomatoes in Napoli salad covered in focaccia lid ($30). This dish comes in a very generous size, we did not expect it would be that big. Sadly, it's has fishy smell and taste. I'm very sensitive to anything fishy so it's a little bit hard for me to enjoy them but my team managed to finish most of it. The foccaccia needed to be fluffier and a little bit more seasoning maybe cheese on the sauce would be delicious.

Cannolo Siciliano - traditional cannolo Siciliano with a filling of ricotta, chocolate chips and orange glaze ($6). The ricotta was a little bit too thick for our taste, maybe more cream or custard would balance it out and the shell was a bit tough.

Tiramisu - Italy's favourite "pick me up" ($12). I love their tiramisu. It was moist, strong and rich flavour. I don't mind having this in my refrigerator at all times.

By the end of our dinner, we are fully satisfied and we managed to finish everything except the cannolo that I decided to bring home for my brother late night snacks. The service was amazingly friendly and warm. It was a night well spent and definitely not going to be my last time visiting +39 Pizzeria.
