Ponshu Kiroro is a petit Japanese restaurant with a cute logo of a baby sheep. The place focus on Japanese Hokkaido fusion dishes. The owner is a credible Japanese person and she has done various cooking Japanese show in Japan. She wanted to bring this unique flavour to Melbourne just because there's not many Japanese fusion restaurant with reasonable price but still focus on the freshest produce.

I was invited by Joel, the manager at Ponshu Kiroro. I decided to come on a weekdays night to avoid the crowd and by chance my partner work place is nearby. The place it self was decorated in light wooden furnitures with minimal but clean decorations.

Soba Seed Stem - a subtly sweet tea made from soba seed and stems of green tea. Highly nutritious, this tea is rich in protein vitamins and amino acids ($6) & Momo Oolong Tea - the noble sweetness Japanese white peach, w/ it's fresh and subtle flavour, is justly matched w/ a superior grade Taiwanese Oolong. An aromatic and refreshing blend that is extremely soft on the palate ($6). I love both of the tea so much, highly recommended.

Sushi Parfait - marinated salmon with bean curd rice and steamed rice w/ a choice of dressing; hot spicy, wasabi, sweet soy ($11). It was unique and modern, I love the taste. It's well balanced in texture and flavour.

Three Addictive - zangi senbei, marinated salmon and honey pickled cherry ($14). I love their marinated salmon but the honey pickled cherry was a bit too sour for me and the zangi senbei was a bit too dry as well.

Juicy Kurobuta Pork Belly - pork belly, served kiroro vinegared soy sauce w/ seasonal vegetables ($27). The pork belly was crispy and tasty but I wish it was a bit softer and have a melt in your mouth sensation, the salad was a nice addition to the dish.

We chat quite a bit with Joel, his service was friendly, a bit funny but enjoyable. The food was presentable as well fresh and tasty. I wouldn't mind come back and try some more of their food.
