Little Sister (Invited)

Little Sister is located in Keilor East. This cute cafe in the corner of the road has a personality inside and out. They served breakfast and lunch seven days a week with attractive menu such as St Helena quinoa porridge with red wine poached pear and pistachio crumble and more. They are open for quite some time now and opened by the same big family that opened the Glass Den and I heard they are working on their next project somewhere in Moonee Ponds.

I was invited to Little Sister cafe and get the chance to meet the manager which was the son of the owner. He tell me this short story regarding his big family is into cafe business and The Glass Den is his uncle's creation. The cafe it self was long but bright with yellow wallpaper that I love so much. The courtyard was petit but charming, covered and warm which make it perfect for any seasons.

As always, we started with coffee. Their coffee was super fluffy, served in the right temperature and just nice for the cold windy Melbourne day.

Ricotta Hot Cakes - grilled banana, pistachio, mint strawberry salsa and maple butter sauce ($16.9). The presentations was pretty but a bit too cramped, I don't mind that though. The pancake it self was fluffy and moist. Combinations between banana, pistachio, mint, strawberry and maple butter just worked perfectly but the star of the plate was the grilled banana. It was crisp yet moist and sweet, I could eat that any day. The only suggestion is to separate the sauce so the bottom part of the pancake will not be too sweet and people will have their own preferences on how much they want the sauce on the dish. Another plus point is the pouring picture is in trend right now.

Today's Special; Oven Baked Atlantic Salmon -i nfused with tomato, capsicum, saffron sauce served with artisan sourdough ($20.9). I almost order baked eggs but change my mind after I saw the special board. The salmon skin was super crispy and I love it but the meat was a touch over cooked. The sauce needed a little bit more capsicum and tomato since I prefer thicker sauce. The overall taste was good and enjoyable.

It was a cold and windy day, Little Sister brighten up my day with that yellow wallpaper, charming court yard. warm service and food.
