The Baker's Wife is named after the owner and baker Beejan Degani's wife, Dora. It's famous for the fresh baked pastries, baked in the premises it self.

I have been wanting to visit Bakers Wife for a while. Then when a meeting come up and a kid friendly venue is needed, we went in to Bakers Wife on a Wednesday afternoon. The cafe was open and large decorated with an open brick walls, artsy wall art by Mimsy Jones Robinson, hanging plants, large fire place and a wide ranges of pastry on the other side. It certainly have a rustic yet homey feeling.

I order my regular skinny cappuccino and they are using All Press coffee. It was hot which is good with a strong flavour then I start with ordering the Quince to share as our appetizers. It was tasty, a bit flaky on the side but soft  and fluffy inside.

The French Toast - The Baker's Challah, rhubarb, strawberry compote, spiced ricotta & Canadian maple syrup ($18.5) and bacon ($3). The French Toast is the best dish out of everything that day, moist and sweet french toast. It was a nice combination of sweet and salty.

The Bubble & Squeak - Bubble & squeak croquette, Italian sausage, roast tomato, fried egg, sourdough, house relish & house BBQ sauce ($21.5). The croquette and sausages was nice but overall the dish falls average.

The Fritters - Sweet corn fritters, avocado, house relish, herb sour cream, bacon & salad greens ($19). I love a good corn fritters but sadly it was a bit doughy on the inside and it needed a little bit zesty or punching flavour to improved the taste.

The Cheese Burger - 150g beef patty, Swiss cheese, brioche bun, pickled cucumbers, American mustard, lettuce, tomato & chips ($18). The burger patty was a bit too salty for my taste but the bun was nice and fluffy.

I can't help my self to take away some of their fresh pastry goodies; Hot Jam Doughnut, Custard Doughnuts, Strawberry Custard Doughnuts, Almond Pastry and Peach Danish. All of their baked goodies are baked in the premises. My favourite was the Strawberry Custard Doughnuts. Their price was reasonable and not as high as high profile patisserie such as Agathe or Lune but I have to say the quality is also below them even though it's not bad at all.

The staff was friendly and really attentive, my friend brings her baby with her and the staff was really accommodating. The Baker's Wife is perfect for a large group of people since they have a spacious and welcoming space but the food could be improved to something more spectacular.
