Food Social 7 Sins of Chocolate Tasting (Invited)

I was invited to another Food Social event as the official photographer just like last time. The event is all about chocolate! Growing up in a bakery and having a Pastry Chef as a dad, it's a given that I love sweets especially chocolate. I used to spend my holiday helping him and my grandma at the store or simply spending time with my dad at his chocolate room or cake decoration room.

Mamor is own by an amazing and passionate Pastry Chef Janet, helped by Wenny a hospitality student and Olivia the manager. The cafe was beyond charming, this is the first time I visited Mamor and I love it. The room is separated into two and they are decorated in antiques furnitures, beautifully made cups, elegant red cushions, chandeliers and a dash of gold. My dad went to Belgium to study when he was just a teenager and stay there for over 8 years. He often take us back to Europe to visit his family as well as to show us the beautiful classic architecture, we both love. Mamor interior is a reflection of classic European style and I love every corner of it.

We were given five tea options; Chocolate Chilli, Chocolate Meringue, Chocolate Cherry Ripe, English Breakfast and Earl Grey. I personally love the chocolate meringue the most, it has a nice smell and a hint of sweetness at the end.

First course was a plate of petit fours of:
Chocolate & Coffee Petit Opera Crisp. This is my favourite of all, moist with a little bit of crispiness. You can taste all the different layers just melts in your mouth.
Ginger spice and passionfruit marshmallow chocolate dipped cookie. I love passionfruit, it gives a certain freshness to the chocolate.
Caramel & mint ganache chocolate dipped shortbread. It's a bit too sweet for me since I like dark chocolate but pretty enjoyable.
Chocolate sable with white peach mousse & fruit tartlet. This is my second favourite just because the tart was crunchy and the peach mousse was fresh yet creamy.

Janet invited us for a Chocolate demo at her chocolate room. I feel extremely nostalgic while watching she works cause I'm very familiar with it and yes I can make chocolate, my dad taught me that long time a go. She is so passionate and clearly loves her job, it definitely shows in her work. This demo taught us the hardship to produce a shiny, well made and delicious chocolate.

After the demo we had a blind Chocolate Tasting, it was fun. The chocolate turns out to be Whisky Salted Caramel, Passionfruit, Strawberry & Raspberry.

Each one of the guest gets a champagne chocolate pop with chocolate crisp to bring home but lucky me, Janet prepare something special for me and PS. She give us a charming and beautifully made chocolate flower.

It was a fun night, my highlight definitely talking to Janet her self, her passion for chocolate clearly shines as well as her view regarding giving an opportunity for hospitality student to gain experience during their studies.
