Mr Miyagi

Mr Miyagi is a fun and hip Japanese style izakaya inspired restaurant. The music is loud, cramped, busy but in combine the vibe is amazing and I love it. It wakes you up and makes you energise. Somehow it's like a club cause you have to amped up your volume to make a conversations with your friends since the music are pretty loud. They have several counter seating where you are seated in front of the bar, private seating at the back for group of 6 or more, small outdoor seatings area in front of the restaurant and numerous seating scattered around the mid - front of the restaurant. Mr Miyagi takes bookings for group of 6 or more and will be seated in their private room at the back. Bookings can be made by phone or online at their websites. The dining concept at Mr Miyagi is shared Japanese fusion dishes with several small individual dishes. They also served have creative cocktails, Japanese whisky, Japanese sake and non alcoholic drinks.

Nori Taco - grilled salmon belly, sushi rice, spicy napa cabbage, Japanese mayo, chilli oil ($12). This is my favourite dish from Mr Miyagi. The crispy taco shell tempura nori sheets mixed with melt in your mouth salmon belly, chilli oil, perfectly cooked rice, tasty mayonnaise in combined is delicious.

Wagyu Beef Tataki - seared 7+ wagyu beef, shredded carrot, garlic crips, ponzu macerated cucumber ($26). This is sadly the let down of the night. In my opinion the beef was cut too thick for tataki and over shadowed by the dominant carrots and cucumber on the plate.

Miyagi Fried Chicken - MFC seasonings, kewpie mayo ($14/6pcs, $20/10pcs). My second favourite dish of the night. Who doesn't love a delicious fried chicken?

Grilled Ox - tonnato dressings, young celery, popcorn capers ($5/pcs). The grilled ox definitely have a melt in your mouth moment, it's so tender and well seasoned. It is officially my third favourite dish.

Jimmy Crack Corn - whipped miso butter, spicy corn crack ($4/2pcs). It was perfectly cooked with generous dripping sauce.

Aburi Nigiri - blowtorched stuff on rice ($25) consist of salmon, tuna, kingfish, scallop and wagyu. Each sushi was well made and well cooked. Unlike the wagyu tataki, wagyu nigiri sushi was delicious and tender. My favourite would be their salmon aburi nigiri.

Chocolate Mess - milk chocolate panna cotta, Valhrona chocolate, ganache, lava salt, orange oil, kinder surprise ice cream, miso chocolate fudge ($18). This is a very rich chocolate dish and perfect for the ultimate chocolate lovers.

Mr Miyagi has blown my mind, they have exceed my expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful. Despite the wagyu tataki, I'm happy with Mr Miyagi and definitely will be back for more.
