Rustica Sourdough's decided to open another venture at CBD but they decided to changed things up from the cafe style to a quick service to cater busy lunch hour. They are serving freshly made breakfast and lunch starting from quinoa to coconut cream pudding to pork crackling sandwiches. Rustica founder and baker Brenton Lang collaborated with former Touchwood and Ladro head chef Tristan White and Matt Vero, co owner of Tall Timber, Touchwood and Marquis of Lorne

The first thing you'll notice when you walk into Rustica Canteen are the line up of pastry heavens. Starting from croissants, cronuts, doughnuts, tarts and many more tempting you from the glass counter. If you are a pastry addict like me then welcome home. The space used to be a gallery has been transformed by architect Fiona Drago, who kept the warehouse look while adding the open kitchen shows where all the hot food and salads are made and also give a modern freshness to the place by adding plants and structural art on the wall.

Ispahan croissant - rose, lychee, almond and raspberry. It was delicious as expected, the sourness of the raspberries, the sweetness of the lychee, classic almond filling and mild floral scent was just perfectly balanced.

Peanut butter and chocolate croissant - peanut frangipane filling, chunks of dark chocolate, topped with chocolate ganache and chopped roasted peanuts. It was a twice baked croissant just like the Ispahan croissant. Peanut butter and chocolate are known to balanced each other out perfectly and it was delicious.

Creme brulee donut was amazing. It has a hard toffee top just like real creme brulee with super creamy creme brulee filling.

Lemon curd donut has a meringue on top of the donut and it's not only cute but well made and taste good. The filling was fresh, light but creamy and soft.

Chocolate honeycomb donut. From the name it self, what's not too like? Creamy, not overly sweet chocolate fillings with a crunchy honeycomb piece.

Lemon curd cronut. The cronut was buttery, flaky and rich, well baked. The lemon fillings was a perfect balanced to the pastry richness.

Yoghurt cronut with granolla sprinkles on top is one of their latest creations, the filling was sour and refreshing.

Milo cronut is the perfect rich buttery sweet combinations. It's crispy, buttery and have layers similar with croissant. The milo custard fillings was delicious and not overly sweet and topped with cream, chocolate and a milo crisp.

Matcha and strawberry cronut is one of my favourite. The matcha has the perfect combinations of sweet and bitter, balance by the fresh sour strawberry and combined with the richness of the cronut was just delicious.

Blackcurrant and Raspberry eclairs is also another new creations by Rustica. It was sour, refreshing and fruity.

Pina colada choux bomb has a rich, creamy, smooth coconut cream filling which I love so much but also has a hint of freshness just like the real pina colada drink.

Pistachio and strawbery choux bomb is my absolute favourite. The choux bomb looks so pretty and taste equally amazing. The pastry was crispy, the pistachio was light, crispy and strawberry was fresh, sweet, sour and it's my favourite fruit.

Breakfast salad ($12.5) - freekah, wild rice, kale, rocket, chai soaked raisins, toasted almonds, minted yoghurt, fried egg. This another popular dine in menu at Rustica. The salad was full of flavour and texture. Definitely super healthy and taste good. For a quick lunch, there are takeaway friendly sandwiches and salads with fresh ingredients and the best news is they are all under $15.

Merely open a month and a half, Rustica Canteen has certainly attracts a lot of CBD customers. It's easy to welcome a new cafe especially they sells various delicious pastry. Their pastry is relative cheaper than Agathe Pattiserie , Chez Dre and Lune Croissant. Since none of them located in CBD and friendly services, Rustica Canteen has officially become one of my favourite bakery in the CBD.
