Ying Thai 2

I have been a loyal customer from 2008. One of the best place to eat authentic thailand cuisine in Melbourne. They just finished their renovation, they change their decorations to something more modern and bright. Very different than what it used to be. I have a mixed feeling with this new decorations, yes its brighter, clean and modern but somehow missing the authentic Thailand vibe. They have two storey indoor seatings area and have some outdoor seatings too.

They have pretty good prawn cake (4pcs) - deep fried prawn cake served with plum sauce ($10.90). Gai Hor Bai Thoey ($pcs) - marinated chicken with Thai herbs and wrapped in pandan leaves served with chilli sauces ($10.90).

One of the most popular dish is the Yum Sam Grob - pork skin salad mixed with prawns, squid, vegetables with special sauces ($14.90) and it was delicious. Crunchy crispy pork skin with sweet and sour sauces. This restaurants have an option spiciness level, there are no guidelines just tell the waiter your preferences.

Seafood Tom Yum hot pot ($15.90) is perfect to share. The taste it self was fresh, light and spicy, no fishy flavours or smells.

The classic Pud Thai with chicken ($15.90) also another popular dish in Ying Thai 2. Generous in portions and taste.

In terms if curry this two are the most popular choices; Gang Dang - duck red curry cooked in coconut milk and vegetables ($16.90) and Gang Keow Waan - chicken green curry in coconut milk and vegetables ($13.90). Order their roti to eat together with the curry.

Another popular menu is a whole fish, they have several options for sauces. This one looks spicy but it's not, it's sweet and delicious.

Pud Grapow - stir fry chili and basils. I prefer the minced beef ($16.90) or duck ($18.90). Most of the dish in this restaurant have an options of what mean do you want, it comes in handy for certain people with allergies and food preferences.

Ka Nar Moo Grob - stir fry chinese brocolli with crispy pork ($16.90), they taste good but the portions are really small, they need to put more of the vegetables and pork in it.

Poo Pud Phrong Karee - stir fried jumbo crab meat with yellow curry, spring onion and chilli ($26.90) was perfect for crab lovers but not in the mood to get your hand dirty peeling the shells.

They served pretty good coconut rice as well as authentic thai milk tea. The downside they don't really have a good desserts options.

Ying Thai 2 it's a busy restaurants, weekend and weekdays. Prior reservations recommended. Their prices for the past seven years are relatively reasonable as well as their portions.
