Miss Marple's Tea Room

One of the best experience ever in Melbourne for tourist or ongoing customers or even the locals. It would be a nice day trip from the city to visit the mountains and there are a lot of tourist attractions nearby.
The food in this place are very consistent. I have been going to this place for more than 7 years. Always the same, always very pleasant. They have a special event of christmas in July and decorate the place with christmas ornaments which is fun and beautiful since it's winter anyway here in Australia.

They always have soup of the day ($11). I have tried potato and leeks, mushrooms, pumpkin and I have to say all was really tasty, warm in your belly and smooth.

They have five Miss Marple's famous fingers and my favourite was the fresh chicken, cheese & asparagus fingers ($14.50). During the Christmas in July sometimes they have Turkey's finger and it was my second favourite. The smoked salmon, egg, cheese & caper fingers ($15) and the others ain't bad as well.

Their garlic bread ($6) was long and big and I have to admit they make something so simple, perfect. It's like on MasterChef they always said if you make something simple, you better make a perfect dish.

The fish and chips served with potato and salad ($18) are pretty small but crunchy and taste good, they served a lot of the salad and I like the dressings.

Quince lorraine (egg & bacon) served with potato and salad ($16.50), the egg it self was so soft, fluffy and melt in your mouth with bacon to complete the dish.

Cottage pie have an options of beef or chicken ($15), I always choose beef. The meat pie and tomato sauce are delicious. This is one my favourite dish in this restaurant. The potato was smooth and creamy with the refreshing tomato sauce and tasty beef just mixed perfectly.

The scones set ($9.50) are one of the best in Melbourne. Plain scone served with jam and cream. The jam they provide are phenomenal, it was homemade and they also sell the jam for souvenirs or just local household use.

They are also famous  for the Miss Marple's Sundae and bread & butter pudding but beware they come in a large size.

This small restaurant have a classic, cozy and warm vibe with memorabilia all around the places. Classic old picture frames, numerous cute teapots, fire place. The waiters are all female and most of them have work there for a long time and very friendly and helpful. The only letdown was the gap between tables and chairs are a bit too closed to each other, so it's very difficult to move around and it's impossible to stay for a long time on weekends cause this place are always so busy.

They did not take reservations by phone and they are always busy, especially on the weekends. Prepare to come early to get a table right away or you can drop down your name and take a walk around the neighbourhood.
