South of Johnston is one the place for brunch are big enough to accommodate large group of people, but don't get me wrong you still might have to wait if you come a little bit later of the day on a Saturday or Sunday. We arrived at 11.30 pm and the place is full of people eating and lining up. The place have three areas, indoor (the biggest area), semi outdoor and outdoor. Indoor area was cozy, warm and somehow a little bit whimsical with the dark lighting (rainy day outside) and plants enchase the bar area. They also have small fire place area at the back. They have big tables with tiles on top and very spacey unlike most of the brunch places with small table, this was quite handy for a large group. Especially asian, we like to share.

The food was definitely the best part of the experience. We ordered chorizo eggs - chorizo sausages & olives cooks in napoli, with two poached egg, hollandaise, basil on sourdough ($18.9), roast field mushrooms with thyme, hummus, pistachio, dukkah on rye ($13.9), croque monsieur - ham and gruyere cheese, dijon mustard ($10.9), pulled pork burger with apple slaw, avocado & swiss cheese ($15.9), prawn linguine with tomato, chilli & basil ($19.9), brioche french toast with poached strawberry, pistachio praline & whipped mascarpone ($17.9) and zucchini and corn fritters with homemade kassoundi, guacamole, sour cream, a poached egg with smoked salmon ($18.9).

Almost all the dishes comes out really delicious, we agreed the best was the prawn linguine, fresh, light, full of zesty, chilli and garlic flavours. The second place would fall to the chorizo egg, I know this dish are pretty common but somehow the make it perfectly or the roast field mushrooms. We could not decide. I don't normally like hummus but this time it was soft, tasty and pleasant to eat and of course the mushroom was cook beautifully.

The let down was the french toast, it was dry and lack of flavouring, the strawberries was too soggy and the mascarpone does not help the dish. The pulled pork burger has a strong smell pork which somehow make it unappetising even though the bread and the apple slaw was pretty good. The croque monsieur and corn fritters was good but over shadow by everything else.

The coffee was okay and their orange juice was fresh and sweet but natural sweet from the orange it self.

Price wise this brunch place has reasonable pricing, each dishes still under $20 and the portions was pretty generous and filling. Overall it's highly recommend! One of the best brunch in Melbourne by far.
